| How To Save Money On Makeup | Money Saving Tips! |

I'm probably not the first person to admit this but, I know at times I'm definitely spending way too much money on makeup! It's so easy to get swept up into the hype of new product releases and rush out to buy them, without thinking about the price.
Lately, in an effort to save some money, I've been focusing a lot on how I spend my money on makeup. I've been doing a lot more "smart shopping" that way I score the best deals on makeup.

Are you looking for ways to save money on makeup? Look no further, I've got some tips right here for you!

How To Save Money On Makeup

First things first, decide what products you're willing to spend a lot of money on and which products you can go cheaper with

Every makeup product you want may be on the pricier side, but that doesn't necessarily mean you need them. I try to remember, when buying makeup, to only splurge on the products that I need. I prefer a high end primer and foundation, since for me with my sensitive skin, the right foundation is very important. Think about which products are the most important to you. If you absolutely need the most expensive mascara out there, buy it, but maybe decide to go drugstore on products that aren't as important to you.

Another thing to remember; just because a product is more expensive doesn't mean it works better than a more affordable option. I've found tons of drugstore products that work just as well, if not better than, their high end counterparts.

If you're heading to the drugstore, make sure you bring coupons!

One of the perks of shopping for makeup at the drugstore, is the ability to use coupons on products. Check your Sunday newspaper, check drugstore apps, and make sure you collect the coupons that sometimes come with products already purchased, (like inside a box). Gather all the coupons you can find and head to the drugstore and you'll be on your way to saving money because, in case you didn't know, coupons can help you score some amazing deals and possibly even a few freebies, but there is something I like to call a "couponing technique".
I have a few couponing tips I'd love to share with you guys so if you'd like to see a post all about it, let me know in the comments below!

Shop sales and clearance sections

Getting a good deal on makeup isn't only reserved for the drugstore. Both Sephora and Ulta run sales and promotions all the time offering huge savings on some usually pricey items. A quick google search can tell you when stores are running sales so you know when the best time to purchase those more expensive items is. Another way to know when products are going on sale is to follow your favorite brands on social media, where they sometimes promote sales, especially flash sales.

Sign up for rewards cards

Every time I'm offered a rewards card, I go for it. I actually have a separate email for it because, as I'm sure you know, brands love to spam your inbox multiple times a day about products and sometimes that clutter gets a little overwhelming. Other than that though, you have nothing to lose by signing up for a store's rewards program.
Some stores only offer a points based rewards system, where with every purchase you make, you accumulate points to be used on future purchases and some rewards programs offer coupons or free products.

Use affiliates

Chances are, some of your favorite bloggers or Youtubers have affiliate links or coupon codes that can be used for certain brands or products. Always write them down and use them on purchases when you can, you'll get a discount and you'll be able to support your faves at the same time! Everybody wins!

Make sure no product is going to waste

Before throwing away what you think is an empty bottle, try to get as much product out of it as you can. You can cut the ends off of tubes so you can scoop out product or you can use a cotton swab to get foundation out of a bottle, they even sell little mini spatulas to help get all of it out! Make sure you use up your eyeshadows, (yes, that means letting it hit pan), and don't open any new mascara before using up your current.
I have tons of tips on how to get the most out of your "empties". Let me know in the comments if you'd like to see a post all about it!

As tempting as it may be, try to avoid Ebay

Although you may be able to score awesome deals on some high-end makeup products on Ebay, it's better to avoid purchasing it unless you're 100% sure that what you're getting is real. People are quick to put up items that are either fake, broken, or even used on Ebay and advertising it as "real" or "brand new". You may even come across a few items with the prices marked up, instead of down. If you are going to use Ebay to purchase makeup, do your research first so you don't end up getting scammed.

Research everything before buying it

I rarely purchase a new makeup product before watching a few reviews on it first, especially when it comes to the more expensive stuff. It's easy to get swept up in all the "hype" of a newly released product, but always do your research and check out reviews so you know if it's worth it or not. I check multiple reviews from multiple sources like, blogs, YouTube channels, and website reviews.

There you have it, a few of my tips on how to save money on makeup. I hope this helps you save money the next time you purchase some new products!
