Blogging Babes Featured Blogger | An Interview with Jenni from Housewife Hustle

February's Blogging Babes Featured Blogger is Jenni from Housewife Hustle! Jenni is a blogger, a stay at home mom, and an all around badass blogging babe who is as inspiring as she is beautiful.

1. What made you decide to start blogging?

I started blogging about 5 or 6 years ago when I was getting ready to graduate college, but the few blogs I had didn't last. I started my current blog this past spring, because I needed an outlet. I was going through a lot with my health and needing a hysterectomy, and writing was my release.

I guess all of the blogs I've started were because I needed to take my mind off of the situations that were bringing me down mentally and physically. This one just happened to stick, and I don't think it's going anywhere.

2. What do you blog about?

I'm all over the place when it comes to content. I label it as being a mom and lifestyle blogger. I write about my kids, beauty, style, mental health, and life as a stay at home mom mostly. Sometimes, I rave about my favorite products and finds too.

3. You're a full time stay at home mom! What are some of the ups and downs of it?

I love spending the majority of my time with my kids, because time is flying by. Watching them grow and learn everyday is the best part. Don't get me wrong, sometimes my kids are tiny tyrants that make me want to pull my hair out. I guess the only down side is that I feel like I could be doing more. There's so much pressure as a mom, so it gets overwhelming when I get looks or negative opinins for choosing to stay home.

4. How do you juggle your full time job as a stay at home mom and blogging?

I blog mostly when my kids are napping or in bed. It cuts into my sleep, but I love blogging. I will work on a graphic or share some things on social media while I'm following my tots around, but I try to do most of my work when it's their down time.

Once my husband comes home, we also do shifts. If I need a break or want to get some work done, he keeps the kids occupied and happy.

5. You're also legally blind, how has that effected you both in your personal life and with your blog?

I was born with Retinitis Pigmentosa, which is a genetic eye disease. I lost majority of my sight when I was in my late teens and early 20s. Being blind is something I've always known, but I've had a lot of ups and downs. I hate not being able to drive, but my disability has given me more strength than a vehicle could.

I try not to label myself as that blind blogger lady too much. I have a small amount of vision/ I can see colors, maybe not as a fully sighted person does. I can't see small details. I can't see the stars or anything, but I have tools to help for daily things.

If I want to write about something that "requires" vision, like beauty or fashion, I make it work. I don't talk about my eyes on a weekly basis, because it may be a part o who I am but it doesn't completely define me. I actually wrote a post on the ups and downs of being a blind mom.

Read it here: Truth Talk: Ups and Downs of Being a Blind Mom

6. What is your favorite food?

I love French macaroons.

7. Who is your favorite band/artist?

KISS was my favorite band growing up, and that's usually my go to answer. However, I used to do music reviews for a heavy metal/rock magazine, so I actually listen to more pop now. I guess if I had a pop favorite it'd be Demi Lovato or Ariana Grande. That's a tough decision.

8. What is one thing you couldn't live without?

Coffee. If it's a thing and not my family or pets, it'd be coffee. I love it hot, iced, how ever.

9. If you could be anything in the world, what would you be and why?

Can I say a rich blogger? Emphasis on the rich part. I have everything I need ad am lucky to have an amazing family, so sprinkle in a lot of money and my passion please.

They say money doesn't buy happiness, but I already have the happy part dwn. If I could do what I love and make enough money to never stress about bills, I'd be golden.

10. What's one piece of blogging advice you'd give to someone just starting out?

Write for yourself. There's a lot of pressure and the need to feel like you have to compare yourself to others, but don't. Stay confident in yourself and your writing.
